Suspicious emails: unclaimed insurance bonds, diamond-encrusted safe deposit boxes, close friends marooned in a foreign country. They pop up in our inboxes, and standard procedure is to delete on sight. But what happens when you reply? Follow along as writer and comedian spam narrates a hilarious, months-long exchange with a humormer who offered to cut him in on a hot deal.

We met him on tour. He is hilarious live. And he talked to each of us audience members after the show. He was so nice and a bit nervous.

I'm curious as to why this was a Ted talk when it runs like a standup with a powerpoint. Anyway, still hilarious.

I keep scam callers on the phone for the same reason. The longer they are on with me, the less time they can be scamming other people.

True story: Had what I thought was a legit buyer for an item I was selling on Craigslist sending me a text saying hey, my dad's interested in buying, send him a message on how much you'll take for it at blah blah email. So I did. He said he was a business man out of the country at the moment, but his secretary could send a certified bank check of 1500.00. I said the item is only for 300.00. He said go ahead and cash the full amount, send a $1,000.00 back to him and I can keep the $500.00 with the extra being for my trouble. Orly? By this time I knew it was a scam, but I gave my address anyways to play along. The check showed up with a company logo on it as if it was his company's bank account, so I called the company. Sure enough, it was a scam. So I went back and forth for a couple of weeks with the guy stringing him along until finally I submitted everything to the police. Few weeks later I get a call from the FBI in the nearest big town from me saying they had all this stuff forwarded to them by the police. We got to laughing when he said "I see from the copies of all the emails you sent in that you were having a lot of fun with the guy, stringing him along" and I said yeah...wanted to see how far it would go. lol

Kept a caller on the line trying to “update” my computer for some 10 mins. Finally he said “You need this update because scammers have many ways to steal vital info.”
